Tourist Visa

Every year, millions of people come to Canada to visit many of the beautiful Canadian sceneries, spend time with family members who live here, and do business.

Requirements

  • A valid passport or travel documentation
  • Demonstration of good health (which may require the medical exam)
  • Sufficient funds to cover the cost of your stay in Canada and the cost of return
  • Confirmation of ties in the home country (country of origin)
  • Intent to leave Canada at the end of the visit

Exemptions

  • A visa is not required for all visitors interesting in travelling to Canada
  • Passport-holders of certain countries are exempt from the visa requirement
  • An Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is the requirement for all visa-exempt foreign nationals

Process

  • 1 Preliminary assessment, collection of required documentations
  • 2 Submission of application
  • 3 Completion of medical examination (if required)
  • 4 Submission of travel documentation
  • 5 Obtain Visitor Visa

Stay in Canada longer

Requirements

  • A valid visitor visa, an eTA and a valid passport or travel document
  • Apply at least 30 days before expiration of the current approval
  • Eligible to apply for extension or change conditions
  • Applying online is recommended

Process

  • 1 Make sure you have what you need to apply online (a scanner or camera and a valid credit/debit card)
  • 2 Review eligibility criteria and confirm if you are eligible to apply, complete the application
  • 3 Biometrics – fingerprints and photo (if applicable)
  • 4 Pay your fees and submit your application
  • 5 Obtain visitor records

Super Visa

Since December 2011, parents and grandparents of citizens and permanent residents can apply for the Super Visa to stay with their family in Canada for an extended period.

Requirements

  • For parents and grandparents of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident only
  • A valid travel document
  • Medical examination
  • Obtain a Canadian medical insurance coverage of $100,000 for at least one year
  • A financial agreement from your child
  • Confirmation of ties in the home country (country of origin)
  • Intent to leave Canada at the end of the visit

Benefit

  • Permits multiple entries valid up to 10 years
  • Authorized stays in Canada are for up to 2 years
